As the year 2019 is winding down, most of us are constantly reflecting on the past year, and what resolutions we would like to accomplish in the new year. On my Instagram, @rebeccaruber, I talked about how some of my resolutions included drinking a minimum of 64oz of water a day, use more sustainable/ethical brands, and eat Vegan more days out of the week. If you can't tell by the pattern in my resolutions, I really want to focus on SELF CARE. That includes how I treat my body. Usually I go for a facial and a massage once MAYBE twice a year if I'm lucky and every time I go, I say I am going to make an effort to go once every 1-3 months, but of course, time goes by, and that promise to myself becomes an empty promise.
In the industry I am in, appearance is very important. Sometimes it's a little TOO important, but that's for another blog post. In general though, whether you're a model or a elementary school teacher, first impressions are everything. Whether you choose to admit it or not, our first impressions of people are usually exterior. Taking care of our body is so important not only for our physical health, but our mental health as well. Every time I leave a beauty session, and I take a look in the mirror, I feel rejuvenated, a brand new person, all smiles and ready to take on the world. Every one should give themselves that opportunity to feel that way.
That little extra push of confidence can make a world of difference in your personal and professional life, trust me.
This is the time of year where no one knows what day it is and everyone is eating like shit. (And by everyone, I mean ME.) I ate worse this whole week than I have all year combined, and on top of stressing the holiday shopping, my skin has not been happy with me. I recently woke up with red spots and trouble areas that were not troublesome only 7 days prior, so I knew I needed to get my skin in check before the new decade began.
I did my research and decided to try the Hydrafacial at NU Image MedSpa in Paramus, NJ.
What's really cool about NU Image is that they offer more than just facials, they have cool sculpting, laser treatments, cosmetic injectables and etc.! They use the best of the best medical products, and they really care about their clients, and offer free consultations to make sure that you get the best results for whatever you want to do. If you live in the North New Jersey area, I highly suggest you check out their website at nuimagenj.com.
They have been around for about 2 years, and what makes them stand out against local competition is that they are number 2 in North Jersey for all their services and are the second largest COOL SCULPTING provider in the NATION.
OKAY, back to the HydraFacial. So the hydra facial comes in three steps.
Step 1: Cleanse & Peel
During this process, a cleansing serum exfoliates the surface of the skin and then the Glycolic and Salicylic acid breaks up debris in the pores.
Step 2: Extract & Hydrate
At this point, a powerful vacuum is used to to remove blackheads and impurities. A multi-action solution delivers extracts for instant hydration.
Step 3: Fuse & Protect
Final step infuses your skin with a booster serum to address specific skin concerns you may have. A peptide and antioxidant naturally detoxifies and protects skin.
The total process is ONLY 30 minutes long so if you lead a very busy life, you can definitely find some time to get this done! This was only my first session and already notice a significant glow and reduction in blackheads.
This image shows me BEFORE my Hydrafacial and AFTER my Hydrafacial.... CAN YOU SEE HOW MUCH MY SKIN IS GLOWING?!?!? My skin was sooooo dull just 30 minutes before!
Also, while I was at NU Image, Maria who did my HyrdaFacial informed me the reason my skin was drying was because I exfoliated TOO much. GO figure?! Also, I was told I need to start wearing sunscreen EVERY SINGLE DAY. SPF 35 is recommended. (It's going to be hard for me to do but I am definitely going to be more active in doing so!)
I was also suggested these two products from Skinceuticals to use instead of my normal skincare routine because they won't dry out my skin, will keep my glow going and they medical products that are safe and smart for your skin! (Products pictured below)
It is suggested you receive a Hydrafacial 3-5 weeks after your initial facial and then how often you get one after completely depends on you and what your skin expert recommends!
